I was coming across the gangplank between Ike and the USNS Darby very early one morning. I had a number of things on my mind, and I didn't really notice as another person approached me.

Suddenly, this officer grabs me and shoves me hard against the railing (uh, that would be illegal). It was a Lt. Cmdr, and he had a massive hard-on that I hadn't saluted him. He was from my department, and I knew him as a fully crimson, erect, and throbbing cock.

For about 10 seconds, I conteplated tossing his carcass over the side and into the dry dock. It was 05:45 a.m. and nobody was around ... hell, I would've gotten off scot free. It could've been "just an accident".

Instead, I apologized and saluted him.

Fuck you, Barney Rubble from OE Division. You got lucky that morning.

Been there, done that!

I see in the news that Ike is patrolling off the coast of Somalia, I hope they are doing more than just intelligence gathering, kind of what we did in 83 off of Beirut. I just hope this time we kick a little ass and not show our strength just by our presence. Remember those 256 Marines, we still owe these middle east bastards for that one.

Lost in translation

I remember once, when we had pulled into Toulon, France for the first time, I had seen a store that had the name "Pain and Poisson" on the front. I remember hearing a squid near me say, "Whoa, pain and poison, that sounds like a party to me."

Note: that is the French translation of Bread and Fish.

Just saw on the news that we will be sending the USS Stennis (CVN 74) to the Persion Gulf in order to intimidate Iran to get them to back down from their nuclear designs....
I have to laugh (mainly in disgust) ... Iran is going to give this sabre rattling the exact same amount of concern as they did when the IKE got sent there in 1980.
The poor crew of the Stennis are getting their liberty screwed up - all for the pointless exercise of trying to impress the Iranians.

Rescue at Sea

Why have I not seen anyone telling this story? We were on a tiger cruise somewhere close to the Bahamas. We just had an air show that kicked ass as always and the XO call for a Man over Board drill. Just a routine drill if there ever is one on the flight deck. Right after the man over board drill was dismissed I heard, "MAN OVERBOARD, MAN OVERBOARD... THIS IS NOT A DRILL!!! The first thing that hit my mind was that a child had fell in the catwalk and some how slipped off the ship. DAMN was I in a panic!!! But it wasn't a child at all. It was a man that was left behind while he was scuba diving. His crew had come across some dense fog and had lost this guy. They were running out of gas and had to leave him behind. This guy was at sea for 3 DAYS!!! Until the Mighty IKE stumbled across him and rescued him. This guy floated for three days fighting off sharks and the sea and the sun. They made a movie about this guy buy Hollywood changed the story a lot and put a girl in the drink with him.

I could of sworn that ABH1 and myself had posted that story in the past, however now I cannot find it.... Anyway, the news articles are out there on the internet, I may try to find them.

Eng and Reactor

Is there any truth to the rumor that I have heard that Reactor and Engineering departments have merged on Nimitz class carriers?

Beirut 83

Department:Medical
Author:Bob
Era:2007

Yes, I vividly recall the 83 cruise off Beirut, Ike got pulled out of Naples very quickly. The signal was a helo from HS-5 flying over with the sonar buoy hanging below the helo. Ike was underway and literally flew across the Med to show our strength and we did it very well.
Has anyone else seen that IKE was on the list of carriers to be decommissioned (Kennedy, Kitty Hawk and Ike were the 3 choices). Kennedy will be decommissioned (Poor thing is in horroble shape), Kitty Hawk (getting up there in age) to be replaced by George Washington....but to even have IKE on that list just blew my mind. Is IKE in that bad shape it would even be considered over Enterprise or Nimitz? If anyone has any inside info I would love to know.
