This isn't the IKE but it is a cool pic of a Nimitz class. I was up on Vultures row once and some "grapes" (Purple shirts) spilled several hundred gallons of JP5 on the flight deck. The OOD immediately put the IKE in a tight starboard turn... There we were in the middle of the ocean, spinning around in circles... The reason for this maneuver was to get the ship to list to port so all this JP5 would drain away from the catapaults and not catch on fire. - I thought this was pretty cool. |
